Lighting a candle is something humans have done for centuries Across religions and cultures in honor of the ones who have passed away.

Memorial Day

It was a Memorial Day and I was getting emotional. I lit up a candle and started painting. I was looking at the wax melting and it gave me the inspiration to use wax as an element in this piece of art, making it more authentic, much more special and also giving it some 3D effect.

The candle body is made of wax with acrylic painting on it.

The wax splashes are made with white and black wax. White because normally memorial candles have a lighter colour and Black to represent the sorrow and grief of the ones who their beloved ones have left them.
